Brixton is a district in London and also a tube and railway station located in that district.
Brixton district is part of London borough of Lambeth. It is located to the south of the Thames, about 3-4 miles south of Trafalgar Square. It is to the east from Clapham, to the south from Stockwell, and to the west from Herne Hill.
Brixton is known as the location of Brixton Academy (music venue), Brixton Market, and many typical Victorian houses.
The main street in Brixton is Brixton Hill, a section of road A23, that goes approximately north-south. It starts already in near Oval Tube Station in Kennington (north of Brixton) – in this section it is named Brixton Road. Near Brixton Station (near the junction with Acre Lane, Coldharbour Lane, and Effra Road) Brixton Road becomes Brixton Hill. In the south it ends at Streatham Place; from that place the road continues as Streatham Hill.
Brixton Tube Station is served by Victoria Line. Although it is the terminus of the whole line, it takes only 8 minutes from Victoria Station or 12 minutes from Oxford Circus.
Brixton Railway Station (in the same location as the tube station – in Brixton Road near Atlantic Road and Brixton Market) is on the Chatham Main Line (from London Victoria to Orpington and Rochester).
