Bremen Hauptbahnhof (Main Train Station) is served by all categories of train, including high-speed (ICE) and long distance trains, regional trains, and Bremen S-Bahn. The station is located in the north-eastern part of Bremen city centre, behind Breitenweg (street) – or between the Altstadt (Old Town) and Bürgerpark. From the middle of Bremen Old Town (Rathaus, Cathedral, and nearby places) you can get to Bremen Train Station either via Herdentorsteinweg or Bürgermeister-Schmidt-Strasse. Either takes about 10 minutes by walk.
In the ICE high-speed network, Bremen is on the main line that links the Rhein-Ruhr metropolitan area with Hamburg and north Germany (Duisburg/Dortmund – Wanne-Eickel – Münster – Osnabrück – Bremen – Hamburg). Other connections from Bremen Train Station include Hannover, Oldenburg, and Bremerhaven.
Like other big German cities, Bremen has a network of suburban train lines – Bremen S-Bahn. Bremen Train Station is the main junction of the network, with all 4 lines meeting here. Two lines actually start at Bremen Train Station (RS3 to Oldenburg and Bad Zwischenahn; RS4 to Nordenham).
